Yonel LEBOVICI (1937–1998) Satellite Lamp, small model (1969) 41 x 39 x 13.3 cm Created in 1969, the year of man’s first steps on the Moon, the Satellite lamp is part of the creative effervescence of futuristic design in the 1960s and 1970s, alongside the work of Joe Colombo, Verner Panton, Olivier Mourgue, and Gae Aulenti. Trained in aeronautics before turning to sculpture, Yonel Lebovici developed a unique artistic vision, blending technical innovation, geometric forms, and poetry. With its chrome sphere and movable transparent discs evoking celestial bodies, the Satellite perfectly embodies the Space Age aesthetic. At the intersection of art and design, this luminous sculpture reflects the French avant-garde of the era. Its visionary nature particularly captivated Pierre Cardin, who helped popularize it in the late 1970s.
