In the pre-Columbian style, Ecuador. Terracotta vase shaped like a dwelling, with a neck in the form of a bird. A figure is carved on the steps, holding an offering in its hands. Provenance: Private collection of Jack Favié, a former soldier who became an adventurer after World War II. He lived in Tahiti and then in Ecuador; during these stays, he built his collection, which reflects his interest in the ancient civilizations of Latin America, particularly the Ecuadorian cultures of Valdivia, Chorrera, La Tolita, and Manteña. The first part of this collection was sold at auction in 2001. Possible signs of wear, damage, restoration, and missing parts.
