Model 1855 senior infantry officer’s saber with a single-branch guard in gilded brass, a horn tang without filigree, an openwork guard decorated with scrolls and foliage, semi-curved blade with a rounded spine, signed by an English cutler, “SARGANT & Son, manufacturer of the honorable EAST INDIA COMPANY,” and an iron scabbard with two rings. L: 99 cm, blade: 83 cm. ABE This East India Company blade suggests that it was made for an officer stationed in Pondicherry or passing through India.
