Hungarian-style hussar saber with iron fittings, flat single-branch guard, long-tailed cap, shuttle-shaped cheek pieces, curved crossguard, wooden tang covered with sheepskin (damaged), incomplete filigree, Ottoman-style curved blade with a counter-edge and engraved in gold within Arabic cartouches reading “Made by Ahmad in Egypt...” and a protective inscription: “My success depends only on God” (Surah Hud, verse 88).
