ITALY - 15th-17th century Bucket with engraved decoration Bronze Italy, XV-XVIIth century H. 9 cm - D. 16 cm Engraved all over its outer surface, the decoration features a central narrative register with a hunting scene on a guilloche background, with each episode separated by a column. It is framed by registers of various plant motifs, friezes of palmettes and flowers, and friezes of circles. A large fleuron is engraved on a guilloché background below the raised circular foot. Holes on the rim of the lip indicate that it had a handle. The shape can be compared with that of a Veneto-Syrian bucket in the British Museum, published in: AULD S., Renaissance Venice, Islam and Mahmud the Kurd: A metalworking enigma, Altajir World of Islam Trust, 2004, cat. no. 7.18, p. 281.
