HERMÈS. Haut à Courroies (HAC) bag, 1970. In dark brown natural grain calfskin with gold-tone metal hardware. Matching leather interior. Stamped with the signature "HERMÈS PARIS MADE IN FRANCE" and production numbering under the logo. Year stamp with letter "E" without frame, corresponding to 1970. Base with four metal supports. Structured construction with double rigid handle, front flap with straps and "touret" twist lock. Includes dust bag. It shows signs of use according to its age: wear on corners and patina and micro-scratches on hardware. Measurements: 29 x 26 x 14 cm. The Haut à Courroies model is the direct ancestor of the Birkin and one of the fundamental designs in the history of Hermès leather goods. Originally conceived as a large-format equestrian bag, its vertical silhouette and rigid structure respond to a technical functionality that evolved into an icon of contemporary luxury. This piece, manufactured in 1970, belongs to the classic period prior to the creation of the Birkin (1984), which places it within a period particularly appreciated by collectors. The natural grain leather develops over time a characteristic patina that reinforces its character and authenticity, while the golden hardware underlines its timeless aesthetics. A representative example of the Hermès craftsmanship tradition and of the historical genealogy of one of the most influential models of 20th century leather goods.
