Master MZ The Martyrdom of St. Catherine. Copperplate engraving. 31.5 x 25.9 cm. B. VI, p. 374, 8; Lehrs VIII, p. 357, 9. Watermark: coat of arms with the Gothic letter H. The largest of the Master’s prints, in an excellent, though in places somewhat delicate impression, with a fine, on the left very fine, border around the facette, which is partially printed with burrs. The paper is predominantly evenly browned; two small light-brown spots in the lower right corner; slight crease marks in the upper left corner; the outermost corner tip in the lower left has been repaired, while the right one is missing; the center fold on the verso has been smoothed out and is not noticeable on the recto; which has a short, reinforced tear on the right, a reinforced tear along the margin on the left, and a small, reinforced tear in the turban of the man standing on the left; a tiny hole in the center of the bottom, otherwise in good condition. - Please ask for condition reports for the lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog. - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog.
