Philipp Hieronymus Brinckmann was a court painter at the Electoral Palatinate court in Mannheim. During his lifetime, Brinckmann was a sought-after painter, as evidenced by Goethe’s praise in “Truth and Poetry.” His body of printmaking is small and includes a series of sheets in the style of Rembrandt. A magnificent print in delicate tones, with a border around the strikingly rendered subject. Minor signs of wear; otherwise in perfect and impeccably beautiful condition.
