Lipinsky, Sigmund Etchings based on Homer’s *Odyssey*. Eight etchings on chamois-colored Holland vellum. Each approx. 23.9 x 15 cm (plate edge); 50.3 x 33.3 cm (sheet size). Loose sheets in an original slipcase with a typographic title and a signed print mark on the inside; the slipcase is housed in the original HL publisher’s folder with a gold-stamped title (51 x 34.5 cm). All numbered in pencil below the illustration “15/60” and signed on the right “S. Lipinsky Rome.” Edition of 60 numbered copies, 1929. See Lipinsky 19–22, 25–28, figs. 9–16. *The Odyssey* was created between 1923 and 1929 in Rome and Anacapri, whose landscape and vegetation Lipinsky depicts in several plates. The project was originally intended to include additional episodes from the *Odyssey*, but these have survived only as studies and were never published as prints. Nevertheless, the series is unanimously regarded as one of Lipinsky’s most significant artistic achievements in his etching oeuvre. The complete series consists of prints in excellent condition, some with beautifully toned washes, and all with full margins. Slightly dusty, with faint foxing and minor signs of age; otherwise in excellent and uniformly original condition. - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog. - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog.
