Klinger, Max Certificate of Honor for scientific collaboration at the International Hygiene Exhibition in Dresden in 1911. Etching on heavy Van Gelder Zonen handmade paper with corresponding watermark. 61.4 x 37.9 cm. 1912. Beyer 416 III (of IV). With this 1912 print, Klinger created something visionary. Two years before the outbreak of World War I, he depicted a corner of the earth filled with cheerful, playful, dancing young people. Beneath them, a titan has already risen and threatens to overturn and destroy this world. An excellent print on the full sheet. Slightly dusty and minimally browned. Slight handling creases along the lower margin, as well as faint brownish traces from an old mount; otherwise in good, uniform condition. Bears an unknown collector’s stamp “DB” (not listed in Lugt) and, in the lower left corner, the blind stamp “Emil Richter Copyright Dresden.” - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog. - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog.
