Pompadour, Madame la Marquise de The Little Soap Bubble Blower. Etching. 19.6 x 15.8 cm. 1751. Le Blanc 3. Watermark (fragment). Madame de Pompadour dabbled in etching and created a few rare etchings, all of which, according to Thieme/Becker, were presumably retouched by Nicholas Cochin or François Boucher. An absolutely excellent print, finely drawn and nuanced, with a striking facet on what appears to be the full sheet; crop marks on two sides. Slightly yellowed and dusty, two small water stains in the upper right corner, the outer edges partially faintly browned and wavy, with isolated small tears there, creased in the lower left corner, a crease mark on the left margin, other subtle creases and signs of use; otherwise in very good and original condition. Very rare. - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog. - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog.
