Velde, Adriaen van de [*] Various animal studies. 10 etchings. 10.9 x 13.3 cm to 11.3 x 13.7 cm. 1657/59. Sheets 1–10, Hollstein 1 II (of III), 2 I (of II), 3–10. Watermark: bell cap; secondary mark. Some show etching marks from earlier prints. The complete series is in excellent to very excellent condition; four sheets have a very fine to narrow margin around the image, and six sheets are trimmed to the plate edge or border. Minimal dust and foxing; a few sheets slightly browned; Sheet 1 has three creases on the reverse; Sheet 6 has an imperceptible repair on the left margin; isolated thin spots due to mounting; otherwise, very good specimens. With the exception of one sheet, all from the Ernst Theodor Rodenacker Collection (Lugt 2438). - Please request condition reports for the lots, as the condition is only indicated in the catalog in exceptional cases. - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog.
