Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn The Penny. Etching. 7.4 x 10.3 cm. Circa 1634. B. 68, White/Boon (Hollstein) 68 I (of II), Nowell-Usticke 68 I (of III), Hinterding/Rutgers (New Hollstein) 138 I (of IV). Prior to further revisions and parallels, not by Rembrandt’s hand—for example, near Christ’s hand and head. An excellent print with fine linework, mostly cut to the edge of the plate. Minimally dusty; faint mounting and handling marks on the reverse; otherwise flawless.
