Heemskerck, Maerten van - after after. The Nine Heroes. 3 copperplate engravings by Harmen Jansz. Muller. Each approx. 21.6 x 25.5 cm. Circa 1567. Hollstein (Heemskerck) 428–430, Veldman (New Hollstein, Heemskerck) 521–523, each II (of III), Filedt Kok (New Hollstein, Muller Dynasty) 92–94, each II (of III). Watermark: Crowned Lorraine cross with double “C” and secondary mark. From the second edition bearing Theodoor Galle’s address. Excellent prints with wide margins on three sides and a narrow margin at the top. Minimally dusty and showing signs of age, with occasional faint spots; the left edge of the sheet shows traces of old thread binding, with some paper loss there; all edges are minimally bumped and have additional tiny paper tears; various smoothed-out creases and folds; “Hector, Alexander, and Caesar" with a crease on the left side of the image; the other two sheets each have a crease in the top or right margin; otherwise well preserved. Rare.
