Vintage c. 1910s Daily Mirror British Press Photo – Mrs. Hobart's Pony Inside the Drawing Room. Original vintage black-and-white gelatin silver press photograph capturing a wonderfully eccentric, humorous glimpse into Edwardian-era high society, dating to circa the 1910s. The delightful domestic tableau frames an elegant woman in a large feathered hat and formal gown—identified as Mrs. Hobart—seated comfortably in an armchair inside a lavishly appointed drawing room. Standing directly on the rug in the center of the parlor is a dark Shetland pony, being gently held and fed treats by a young boy in a long overcoat while another child peers curiously over the back of a plush sofa. The reverse of the photograph bears an official purple ink news bureau property stamp from the legendary London tabloid newspaper: "COPYRIGHT PHOTO BY DAILY MIRROR, 23-29, BOUVERIE ST., LONDON, E.C." It also features an authentic handwritten editorial caption in blue ink reading, "Mrs Hobarts pony inside drawing room," alongside various vintage production layout markers and catalog numbers (670, 802, 2 erf). This fascinating photograph stands as a superb, candid testament to the classic tradition of British eccentricity and early 20th-century photojournalistic storytelling. The image beautifully details the elaborate interior design of the period, featuring floral patterned pillows, an ornate area carpet, framed portrait miniature artwork, and a classical portrait bust on a pedestal in the background. It is preserved in excellent vintage condition with sharp clarity, rich silver tonal ranges, and uniform margins.
