René Iché (18797–1954) Study No. 4 or Reclining Nude Model created around 1928 Bronze with green patina Signed “Iché” on the pedestal Bears a label on the underside reading “EXPOSITION DOUANES / PARIS” H. 24 cm, pedestal W. 46.4 x D. 14.6 cm This study of a female nude reclining on her right side, her hand resting on her bent left knee, is part of the series of nudes created by René Iché beginning in 1926. Created in 1928, this nude depicts his model Rosa Achard, whom he married that same year. Through these nude studies, the sculptor favored modern forms without idealization, seeking to capture the character of his model.
