Georges MATHIEU (1921–2012) Autograph letter, signed and dated May 20, 1980, to Jean Leymarie. 3 pages, with “Moult de Parte” letterhead and a beautiful signature. “Dear Jean Leymarie, If Charles Le Brun’s initiative to found the Académie de France in Rome in 1666 continues to be justified today, it is certainly for the sake of people who have cultivated within themselves a genuine passion for an artistic craft, but who also possess a high level of general culture,” etc. Minor creases and foxing.
