RIMBAUD (Arthur). *Reliquaire*. Poems. Paris, Genonceaux, 1891. In-12, red morocco leather, Jansenist style, interior framing of five fillets with fleurons in the corners, gilt edges, cover and spine, slipcase (René Aussourd). The first attempt at a collected edition of Rimbaud’s poetry, containing several pieces in their original editions. Prepared by Rodolphe Darzens, a Symbolist poet, it was published on the very day of Rimbaud’s death, November 10, 1891, at the age of thirty-seven, at the hospital in Marseille. Printed in a run of 550 copies on vellum paper. This copy features the correct title page and the preface in its unabridged form. Following a disagreement with the publisher Léon Genonceaux, Darzens quickly withdrew about a hundred copies from circulation; he removed the preface from these copies and put them back on the market with a temporary title dated 1892. A fine copy.
