[RACINE (Jean) and BOILEAU]. The Campaigns of Louis XIV. By M. Pelisson. With a comparison of Francis I and Charles V. Paris, Mesnier, 1730. In-12, navy blue shagreen, set of gold fillets framing the text, decorated spine, untrimmed (19th-century binding). First edition. *The Campaigns of Louis XIV* is a eulogy to the king’s conquests: it is a section of Racine’s *History of the Reign of Louis XIV*, completed upon his death by Boileau. The *Comparison* is by Antoine Varillas; it is the final chapter of his famous *History of Francis I*, published in 1684. The two pages of the privilege, which are shorter at the bottom and slightly yellowed compared to the rest of the volume, appear to come from another copy.
