GLAUBER (Johann Rudolph). Miraculi mundi continuatio... For those studying the manifestation of divine miracles and Hermetic medicine... — Tractatus de medicina universali, sive auro potabili vero. Amsterdam, Jean Jansson, 1658. Set of two works in one 12mo volume, in a flexible vellum binding of the period. A collection of two important treatises on alchemy in which Glauber (1604–1670), a German chemist often described as the Paracelsus of his time, describes, among other things, the nature and properties of the famous drinkable gold. (Caillet, no. 4577.) The *Miraculum mundi* is illustrated with three fold-out plates, each depicting a Hermetic philosopher at the alchemical retort. A few handwritten annotations and underlined text in pen; a handwritten note from the period on the title page. One plate is trimmed slightly short at the top. Spine soiled with a small loss.
