In-4, marbled calfskin, double blind-stamped raised bands, spine decorated with blind-stamped raised bands extending onto the covers, red title label, red edges (18th-century binding). First edition of this extremely rare anti-Erasmian polemical treatise composed by a Franciscan theologian teaching at Salamanca. Printed in two columns; the title page is adorned with the coat of arms of Spain; opposite the epistle to King Philip of Spain, a lovely half-page woodcut depicting Saint Francis of Assisi receiving the stigmata; printer’s mark on the verso of the last leaf. Only one copy of this edition is listed in the CCFr (Fréjus Municipal Library). Wet stamp of a religious institution on the title page. Some quires are foxed; slight waterstains on several quires; traces of worm damage. Spine restored.
