[MALIPIERO (Girolamo)]. *Il Petrarcha spirituale*. No place, no date [in the colophon]: Venice, Francesco Marcolini da Forli, November 1536. Quarto, fawn calfskin, decorated spine, red title label, edges speckled with red (18th-century binding). First edition of this work, which Brunet calls the “Reversed Petrarch” and which is a rewriting of the *Canzoniere* for spiritual purposes. A lovely Venetian edition printed in italic type, adorned on the title page with a large woodcut portrait of Petrarch and, on the reverse side of the title page, a large woodcut depicting the author in conversation with the poet at the edge of a wood, signed with Boldrini’s monogram. (Essling, II, p. 666.) The bottom of the title page is missing (partially reconstructed), and there is a small paper patch on the edge of the reverse side. Corner repair on folio 60. Light water stains. Headbands destroyed; binding heavily rubbed with worn corners.
