First edition of this chivalric novel recounting the epic and marvelous adventures of Gérard de Fraite (d’Euphrate), son of the illustrious Doon of Mainz and Queen Flandrine, and a rebellious duke who opposed Charlemagne and fought the Saracens. It is one of the most beautiful illustrated French books of the 16th century: beautifully printed, it is adorned with remarkable woodcuts within the text.
