FLAVIUS JOSEPHUS. [Works]. *De antiquitatibus Judaeorum*, ten books. — *De bello Judaico*, seven books... Lyon, Sébastien Gryphe, 1528. 2 in-8 volumes, cold-stamped sowhide, double fillet framing on the covers, black fleurons at the corners and in the center, the inscription LUD. BENED. DE SALEGRET. stamped in black on the front cover, decorated spine (Early 17th-century binding). A three-volume Lyon edition, printed in italic type, of Flavius Josephus’s *The Antiquities of the Jews*. (Baudrier, vol. VIII, p. 48.) Gryphius’s printer’s mark on the title page. A charming 17th-century binding, bearing on the covers the abbreviated name of the book’s former owner: Ludovicus Benedictus de Salegret. We found mention of a lawyer in Lons-le-Saulnier bearing this name in a 1618 Antwerp edition of *Decisiones sequanorum senatus Dolani* by Jean Grivelle, author of a Latin epigram signed Ludovicus Benedictus de Salegret, fisci Regii Advocatus in Praefectura Lonsalnensi: this is undoubtedly the person in question. Coat-of-arms ex-libris engraved by R. A. Chermside. Volume I is missing. Light water damage and wormholes on a few leaves. Small tear at the two binding edges.
