ANGELUS DE CLAVASIO. *Summa angelica de casibus conscientie*. No place, no date [in the colophon]: Lyon, Johannes de Platae and Thomas de Campanis [Jean de La Place and Thomas de Cloches], October 7, 1507. Gothic in-4, vellum cover, calligraphic title running lengthwise on the spine (contemporary binding). A very rare post-incunabulum edition printed in Lyon. (Baudrier, vol. X, p. 312.) It appears that no copy of this work is held by the Lyon library (no copy found in the CCFr or in the Lyon Public Library’s online catalog). Printed in small Gothic type in two columns, with a large woodcut at the top of the first folio. The *Summa Angelica*, or *Angelic Summa*, is the major work of Angelo Carletti (c. 1410–1495), known as Angelus de Clavasio, a Franciscan monk originally from Chivasso in Piedmont. This important theological work compiles and examines every conceivable sin: adultery, slander, concubinage, witchcraft, the abduction of virgins, hypocrisy, simony, etc. The title page and folios AA1 and AA6 are missing (blank or watermark?). Water damage to a few folios at the beginning of the volume; a few quires are discolored. Binding is soiled.
Delivery is optional. You can use the carrier of your choice. The stated price does not include the lot price or the auction house fees.
