Omega, Chronograph 33.3, Ref. CK987, No. 9,554,930, movement No. 9,384,208, delivered on February 3, 1939, Omega restoration certificate. An exceptional, rare, and superb two-counter chronograph in Staybrite steel, with a black dial, gold-plated hands and markings, and an outer tachymeter scale and snail-patterned telemeter scale. Functions: Hours, minutes, continuous seconds, and 30-minute totalizer. Screw-down case back, Caliber 33.3 CHRO manual-winding mechanical movement. Accessories: Accompanied by a certificate of complete restoration by Omega’s workshops; work performed in 2012 at a cost of over 2,000 euros (invoice included). Condition: In excellent condition; worn only a few times since restoration; movement was functioning at the time of catalog compilation. A rare opportunity to acquire a legendary chronograph perfectly reconditioned by the Omega workshops. The Caliber 33.3, developed in the very late 1930s by Lemania, was one of the first chronograph movements to feature a column-wheel mechanism, synonymous with precision and quality. While the inverted balance wheel and its bridge are only visible once the case back is opened, this movement is easily identifiable from the outside by its unique olive-shaped pusher (start and stop) positioned above the winding crown, which also serves to reset the chronograph to zero. Omega fitted its CK987 models with this movement, with an estimated production run of 10,000 to 15,000 pieces through the 1940s. Our example, dating from the very beginning of its release and featuring this superb black-dial version with gold lettering, is undoubtedly one of the most desirable among the many existing variants.
