Warwick Goble - Jack and the Beanstalk 1913. This plate titled Jack Seized the Hen was created by the British illustrator Warwick Goble. It illustrates the classic fairy tale Jack and the Beanstalk and captures the tense moment Jack makes his daring descent down the beanstalk after stealing the giant's hen that lays golden eggs. The artwork was originally featured as a colour plate in the 1913 edition of The Fairy Book, published by Macmillan and Co.Style. The piece demonstrates Goble's signature style, heavily influenced by Japanese woodblock prints (Ukiyo-e) and Art Nouveau, shown through elongated watercolour lines, muted tones, and intricate details on the garments. Size: 26cm x 20cm Excellent with occasional age-related marks - please check image carefully
