905 - Ornate box: burl wood, bronze mountings. Resting on four feet, rectangular, curved body, side handles, slightly domed lid on a hinge. Sides richly decorated with bronze appliqués; on the front and back, oval porcelain plaques (Royal Porcelain Manufactory, Berlin) featuring putti in relief. On the lid, a fully sculpted putto (trident missing) with a dolphin; below, a copper plaque inscribed “Regimentsrennen III. Pferd, Babelsberg 5.XI.1888” (later addition). German, 19th century. 26 x 32 x 19 cm.
