210 - Line VAUTRIN (1913–1997). Circular “Gribiche” model witch mirror. Circa 1955. Navy blue talosel frame. Minor imperfections. Signed “Line Vautrin” on the back. Diameter: 17.7 cm. She established her reputation at the 1937 Paris World’s Fair, where she had a booth. There she presented a diverse collection featuring her famous bronze buttons, as well as necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and numerous other fashion accessories; in particular, she displayed a gilded bronze depicting Adam and Eve in paradise, mounted on a chain shaped like an exhaust pipe. Her collection generated quite a buzz. The following year, at the age of 28, she opened her first boutique not far from the Champs-Élysées, a small space on Rue de Berri. In 1939, she exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs, showcasing powder compacts, makeup boxes, and gilded bronze pillboxes, whose lids were inlaid with rebuses
