LALIQUE, Suzanne (1899–1989). “Les éventails brisés.” Oil on canvas, signed upper left. Dimensions: 74 x 62 cm. Exhibition: Galerie du Dragon, 1975 Suzanne Lalique was the daughter of René Lalique and Augustine-Alice Ledru, herself the daughter of the sculptor Auguste Ledru, a friend of Rodin. After her mother’s early death in 1909, her father encouraged her to express her talents as an artist. He regularly sought her input for her creativity and judgment. Suzanne designed perfume bottles and powder compacts for the House of Lalique and created pieces for the Sèvres porcelain manufactory, either on her own or in collaboration with her father. In 1913, she exhibited watercolors—designs for fabric prints—for the first time at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs.
