MERCIER, Mary Adolphe (1882–?). “Bridge and Mill in Eymoutiers, Haute-Vienne.” Oil on canvas, signed lower right, 50 x 65 cm. Framed. MERCIER was a student of Jules ADLER and also of Pierre Eugène MONTEZIN. Few of his works are documented on the market. Nevertheless, this painting, executed around 1915–1920 and reminiscent of a fine work by MONTEZIN, undeniably demonstrates the painter’s Neo-Impressionist virtuosity.
