Yokoi Teruko 1924 Tsushima – 2020 Bern Untitled. 1982 Egg tempera on paper Signed and dated lower left: 82 Framed 47.5 × 65 cm (sheet size) Teruko Yokoi received her initial artistic training in Japan and continued her studies in the 1950s in the United States, where she met Hans Hofmann in New York, among others. After moving to Bern in 1962, she continued to devote herself to both painting and works on paper. She employed various techniques, such as watercolor, gouache, and egg tempera. Her works, often inspired by natural motifs and the seasons, are characterized by a free, at times abstract formal language and a nuanced color palette.
