After starting his career in Lucerne, he moved to Berlin in 1978, where he was active within the “Neue Wilde” circle and collaborated with artists such as Rainer Fetting and Salomé. His body of work encompasses painting, photography, performance, and music, with the staging of his own persona, questions of identity, and the dissolution of traditional gender roles playing a central role. His expressive figurative paintings, in particular, are characterized by intense color and a spontaneous, gestural painting style. The painting on offer, “Jenny,” dates from his Berlin period, during which expressive figurative painting and an exploration of different role models played an important role.
