Bosshard Rodolphe-Théophile 1889 Morges – 1960 Chardonne Grapes. 1938 Gouache on vellum Signed and dated lower right: R TH Bosshard 38. Dedication by the artist on the reverse Framed 20 × 36.5 cm (inside dimensions) Association Rodolphe-Théophile Bosshard, Online Catalog of Works, B0240 (listed there with a different medium) During his years in Paris from 1920 to 1924, Rodolphe-Théophile Bosshard engaged intensively with Cubism and developed a distinctive visual language characterized by clearly structured forms. After returning to Switzerland, he settled in Lavaux, where, in addition to his well-known nudes and landscapes, he also created numerous still lifes. The work “Raisins,” created in 1938, is part of a series of fruit depictions from those years, in which Bosshard combined representational rendering with a deliberate simplification of forms and pronounced color contrasts.
