Silva Francisco Domingos da (known as Chico da Silva) 1910 Alto Tejo – 1985 Fortaleza Untitled. 1972 Tempera on canvas Signed and dated lower right: FDSILVA 1972 Framed 64 × 44.5 cm Francisco Domingos da Silva drew inspiration for his artistic work from Brazil’s colorful wildlife, which he expressed in imaginative compositions. With no formal artistic training, he began his artistic career in Fortaleza in northeastern Brazil and developed a distinctive visual language that blends observation of nature with imagination. Fish, birds, and mysterious mythical creatures merge in his works into densely interwoven compositions whose ornamental structures and vibrant colors are characteristic of his art. In 1966, he gained international recognition through his participation in the Venice Biennale, where he was awarded an honorable mention. Today, he is considered a leading figure in Brazilian self-taught art. Auction Date: November 28, 2026 Approximate Auction Time: 2:17 p.m. CET
