Diamantopoulos, Stelio Basel, 1967 LET'S DANCE. 1998 Oil on canvas Signed and dated lower left: Diamantopoulos 1998 Unframed 160 × 110 cm Atelier Segmüller, Zurich, 1998 (label on the reverse); private collection, Switzerland The painting on offer is from the “Stars & Comics” series, in which Stelio Diamantopoulos has been combining well-known figures from politics, film, and music with characters from the world of comics since the early 1990s. Drawing inspiration from American Pop Art, these unusual juxtapositions result in humorous—and at times socially critical—visual compositions. This work depicts Daffy Duck alongside the singer Madonna in her famous stage costume—designed by Jean Paul Gaultier—from the 1990 “Blond Ambition World Tour.” Works from the series were presented, among other places, in 1998 at Atelier Segmüller in Zurich and in 2000 in the exhibition “Stars, Comics, and Other Aliens” at Kunst Raum Riehen. Auction date: November 28, 2026 Approximate auction time: 1:40 p.m. CET
