Bauck, Jeanna (Maria Charlotta) 1840 Stockholm – 1925 Munich Still Life with an Owl and a Pearl Necklace. 1875 Oil on canvas Signed and dated lower right: Jeanna Bauck 75 Framed 82 × 74 cm The Swedish painter Jeanna Bauck worked primarily in Germany and was part of Munich’s international artistic circle. In addition to portraits and landscapes, she also devoted herself to still life painting. She was a close friend of the Danish painter Bertha Wegmann and taught Paula Modersohn-Becker, among others. This painting depicts an unusual composition featuring an owl, a pearl necklace, a book, a fan, and a rose, all arranged on a red cloth. The combination of these objects with the nocturnal forest landscape lends the work a mysterious, symbolist character. Auction Date: November 28, 2026 Approximate Auction Time: 9:02 a.m. CET
