Eduard Spörri 1901 Wettingen 1995 Bather Bronze, patinated Signed on the plinth: Ed. Spörri. Foundry mark: Cire perdue F. Amici. Height 38 cm Eduard Spörri devoted himself to figurative sculpture beginning in the 1920s. His work was particularly influenced by Aristide Maillol and Auguste Rodin, whose works he encountered during a stay in Paris in 1931–32. A recurring motif in his sculptures is the female nude, which he rendered in calm, compact forms. This Bather also follows in that tradition.
