Ursi Luginbühl 1936 Basel – 2017 Bern Bronze, dark patina Vessel-like sculpture; the mouth is shaped as a stylized head with a trunk-like extension; the curved side handle features applied shells and a snail. Foundry mark: SOGARTE S.A. CERA PERSA RANCATE. Signs of age and wear. Height 89 cm Ursi Luginbühl trained under the ceramicist Margrit Linck from 1954 to 1957. While her early works were still characterized by simple, functional vessel forms, she developed an increasingly imaginative, surreal-seeming formal language beginning in the 1970s. Her ceramic vessels evolved into sculptural objects featuring organic and fantastical elements.
