Pocket watch with musical mechanism 60 mm / 750 gold / key / first half of the 19th century / 170 g / needs servicing. Open-face pocket watch (Lépine) with quarter repeater and musical movement (“à musique”) by Perrin-Frères in Neuchâtel. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals for the hours and an outer minute track; blued Breguet hands. Gold-plated cylinder movement with a monometallic three-arm balance wheel. Timekeeping mechanism and winding mechanism for the musical mechanism; both with Maltese position. The quarter-repeater is activated via the pendant. The barrel-driven musical mechanism is triggered on demand via a slide at 4 o’clock and at the top of the hour. It is stopped via a slide at 3 o’clock. Bridges finely engraved. Case back finely guilloché; case middle section ribbed. Inner case back gold-plated. Case number 12791. Monogram on the inside of the case back: “MF” and signature “PHPI” for the case manufacturer. Musical movement in working order. Enamel dial with a chip at 12 o’clock (right at the edge) and a few fine scratches. The fasteners for the dial feet are missing. The movement is resin-clogged.
