Tabletop with “trompe l’oeil” marquetry depicting the decorative clutter on a writing desk, composed of exotic and stained native woods, framed by an openwork gallery of gilded metal. The front features a chest-of-drawers section resting on a tall, slightly curved leg, consisting of six small drawers of equal size, arranged in three rows of two drawers each. On the opposite side, the same layout is indicated by a latticework panel. Signs of age and wear.
