Immaculate Virgin. Italian School. 17th century Carved and polychromed wood. Dimensions: not specified. A round sculpture depicting the Immaculate Virgin standing on clouds and cherub heads, her hands clasped in prayer and her gaze raised. The drapery, rendered in broad folds and embellished with gilding, creates an upward movement that reinforces the figure’s spirituality. The polychromy features warm tones and burnished gold, highlighting the expressive quality of the serene and devout face. A representative work of the 17th-century Italian Baroque school, in which Marian exaltation is embodied in an image of great devotional and aesthetic power. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
