1624 - Ceramic washstand. Spanish School. 19th century.

Ceramic washstand. Spanish School. 19th century. Glazed and decorated ceramic in cobalt blue on a white background. Dimensions: height 52 cm x width 33 cm x depth 33 cm. The body features stylized plant decoration in a symmetrical arrangement, with floral motifs and geometric borders on the neck and base. The decorative composition is in the traditional Talavera or Puente del Arzobispo style, notable for its ornamental harmony and visual density. The piece retains its original lid and illustrates the ritualized, utilitarian use of water in nineteenth-century domestic settings. The ceramic craftsmanship demonstrates technical mastery in the control of the glaze and the application of the plant motif, reflecting a continuity with Mudejar ceramics reinterpreted during the Romantic era. Its generous volume and robust profile give it a sculptural presence. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist.
