Copper and bronze ewer, French school, 19th century Copper and bronze. Measures 40 x 46 x 29 cm. Ewer consisting of a wide-necked pitcher and a fluted basin, both embellished with gilt bronze mounts in a Rococo and Classical style. The smooth body of the vessel contrasts with the molded rims, the elegantly curved handle, and the ornamental reliefs, creating a balance between structural restraint and ornamentation. The warmth of the copper and the gleam of the metal mounts lend visual nobility to the piece. It reflects the late 19th-century French tradition, which favored reinterpreting historical forms with sumptuous finishes for the bourgeois domestic sphere. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
