1372 - Six-drawer walnut refectory table. Spanish School. Late 16th – early 17th century.

Six-drawer walnut refectory table. Spanish School. Late 16th – early 17th century. Carved walnut wood. Dimensions: 67 x 98 x 74 cm. A transitional refectory table from the late 16th to early 17th centuries, featuring six front drawers decorated with geometric carvings and plant motifs. The wide tabletop and reinforced structure were designed to meet the needs of communal use in convents and monasteries, where this type of furniture was essential. The sturdiness of its profile-cut legs, joined by jambs, reinforces its functionality. Its understated yet expressive carving makes this table a paradigmatic example of Castilian convent furniture at the threshold between the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
