1194 - Human pelvis for educational purposes, Europe, late 19th–early 20th century

Human pelvis for educational purposes, Europe, late 19th–early 20th century Organic material and wood. Dimensions: 34 x 28 x 12 cm. An interesting anatomical and educational piece consisting of a human pelvis mounted on a base, complemented by skeletal elements arranged in an exhibition-like manner that reinforces its sculptural presence and its value as an object of study, for display, or as a scientific curiosity. Presented vertically, the piece stands out both for its osteological interest and its strong visual impact, accentuated by the unique addition of a rosary with a crucifix suspended in the center—a detail that adds a symbolic and devotional dimension to a work that straddles the realms of teaching materials, natural history, and collector’s items. Its understated mounting allows for a clear appreciation of the skeletal structure and makes the piece a particularly attractive example within the field of historical anatomy and for cabinets of curiosities.
