Staff of dignity and necklace, Igbo, Nigeria, 19th–20th centuries Copper and iron alloy. Dimensions: 60 and 151 cm. Set consisting of a staff of office and a necklace, made of metal and associated with the Igbo ceremonial tradition. The staff has an elongated, vertical structure, designed as a symbol of prestige and authority, while the necklace complements the set with ornamental metal elements. Both pieces display handcrafted workmanship and a surface featuring a dark patina, oxidation, and irregularities characteristic of worked copper and iron, consistent with their age. Lot stored in an international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU. An export permit from the country of origin may be required. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
Delivery is optional. You can use the carrier of your choice. The stated price does not include the lot price or the auction house fees.
