1073 - Andean landscape with figures and volcanoes. Signed Endara, Latin American School, 19th century.

Andean landscape with figures and volcanoes. Signed Endara, Latin American School, 19th century. Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 65 x 41 cm and 75 x 52 cm. A panoramic view of an Andean landscape, framed by a majestic snow-capped volcano rising in the background beneath a serene sky. In the foreground, peasants wearing traditional hats walk across reddish, rugged terrain with their animals, while thatched-roof huts are visible on either side. The composition combines topographical and architectural elements with a pictorial language characteristic of colonial art, marked by the idealization of the natural environment and the decorative use of color. The linework is meticulous, with special attention paid to native vegetation and the textures of the terrain. This piece, closely related to regional costumbrismo, is situated within the context of late colonial painting, where the depiction of the territory takes on symbolic and cultural significance as an image of identity and belonging.
