The Visitation with Saints Joachim and Joseph. Florentine School. 16th century. Oil on panel. Dimensions: 12.5 x 16 cm. In an intimate and secluded scene, the Virgin and her companion—possibly Saint Joachim—exchange a solemn greeting, while Saint Joseph and another figure look on from the background. The faces are delicately rendered, with barely visible halos and garments in shades of red, blue, and ochre. The loose brushwork and small size suggest a work of private devotion. The composition is part of the Florentine Cinquecento, in a style that combines Quattrocento traditions with early Mannerist influences. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
