LAURENCIN, Marie [Paris, 1883 – id., 1956], French painter and printmaker. Autograph letter signed “Marie Laurencin.” 1 page, large 8vo, on paper bearing her initials. She thanks her correspondent for her letter but explains that she is unwell and no longer wishes to work on the sets for the Opéra-Comique: “Winter, the cold, and the snow bring me nothing but discomfort… Besides, the last set I created for a ballet at the Opéra-Comique has put me off this kind of work for good. I’m ashamed of it, I assure you, but if you need advice on a costume—though the dressmakers know far more about it than I do—I’m at your disposal.” Enclosed is a signed, autographed note dated March 2, 1955, 1/2 in-8°: “Here, my dear friend, is a small check. I can’t write any more because of the cold.”
Delivery is optional. You can use the carrier of your choice. The stated price does not include the lot price or the auction house fees.
